Grammy-nominated band Skillet is not your typical rock act. The Tennessee-born quartet is actually on its way (if not already there) to stardom. With numerous multi-platinum hits, two Grammy nominations, and 12 million albums sold, the band is definitely worth knowing. They are currently being recognized as one of the most commercially successful Christian rock bands of the 21st century. The band’s double platinum, “Monster,” made waves across the radiowaves and streaming platforms. It received over 100 million streams on Spotify. Meanwhile, it was recorded as the best-selling digital single in the Christian music industry. Last year, the song received its fifth platinum certification. Besides “Monster,” Skillet also dropped several rock/alternative staples, such as the triple-platinum hit “Hero,” the double platinum “Feel Invincible,” and “Awake and Alive.” Skillet’s 27-year career has produced 11 highly-acclaimed studio albums, four of which went to number 1 on Billboard’s Christian Rock Charts. Moreover, the band has released over 20 number-1 singles. In addition to their Grammy nominations, Skillet has won eight GMA Dove Awards and a Billboard Music Award.
Canadian rock band Theory of a Deadman has also received several accolades. In 2003, the band won Canada’s prestigious Juno Award. The band won New Grou of the Year, following the release of their self-titled debut album, released in 2002. The four-member group has released eight studio albums, five of which entered the top 10 on the Canadian charts. Theory of a Deadman’s 2008 effort, Scars & Souvenirs, became the band’s highest-charting and best-selling effort to date. The album, which spawned singles “So Happy,” “By the Way,” and “All or Nothing,” is certified double platinum in the U.S. and platinum in Canada.
In 2014, the band hit number 1 for the first time with their fifth album, Savages. The effort notably topped Billboard’s Alternative and Hard Rock Albums charts and peaked at number 8 on the Billboard 200. Savages spawned several hit singles, including “Drown,” “Angel,” and the title track. Earlier this year, the band dropped their latest album, Dinosaur. The album was produced in collaboration with Swedish producer Martin Terefe, who has done exemplary work with past albums, such as Wake Up Call and Say Nothing.
