Kevin James rose to fame for his portrayal of Doug Heffernan on the CBS sitcom “The King of Queens” for which he received his first nomination for the outstanding lead actor in a comedy series. Before this he had always focused on his stand-up comedy shows which he started in 1989 making his debut at a comedy club in Long Island where he adopted the stage name Kevin James in honor of his favorite teacher.
He was on various talk shows including The Ellen DeGeneres Show and the Late Late Show, he also featured on the Comedy Central list of 100 greatest stand-up comedians. Kevin James has also performed his stand-up routine on Just for Laughs and has multiple stand-up comedy shows including “sweat the small stuff” in 2001, “Never Don't Give Up” in 2018 and “Irregardless” in 2024.
