Billy Ocean is a Grammy Award-winning musical artist best known for a succession of pop and soul songs in the 1970s and 1980s, including "Caribbean Queen (No More Love On The Run)" and "When The Going Gets Tough, The Tough Get Going." Billy Ocean is the most financially successful Black artist in the United Kingdom, having sold over 30 million records worldwide.
His career took off in 1984, with the release of "Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)" as the lead single from his fifth album, Suddenly. "Caribbean Queen (No More Love on the Run)," which was published in regional markets as "European Queen" and "African Queen," exploded into the Top Ten worldwide, peaking at two in the United States and six in the United Kingdom. In 1985, Billy Ocean had two more significant hits: the rocker "Loverboy," which peaked at number two in the United States, and the ballad "Suddenly," which peaked at number four on Billboard.

The Commodores, like their famous song "Brick House," have built a foundation that will not budge. The group was formed in 1968, while all of the members were students at Tuskeegee Institute. The Commodores successfully sold over 60 million records for Motown after being discovered by Berry Gordy. The Commodores established themselves as established performers with singles such as "Machine Gun" and "Sail On." The Commodores have not only released six new albums and embarked on a world tour, but they have also established their own record label, Commodores Records and Entertainment.
The Spinners were the greatest soul group of the early 1970s, defining the smooth, sensuous sound of Philly soul. The band's roots are ironically in Detroit, where they began as a doo-wop ensemble in the late 1950s. Throughout the 1960s, the Spinners attempted to score success by adjusting to changing R&B and pop fads.
They recorded several soul classics between 1972 and 1977 , such as "I'll Be Around," "Mighty Love," "Could It Be I'm Falling in Love," "Ghetto Child," "Games People Play," "Then Came You," and "The Rubberband Man," which fueled a five-gold album streak from Spinners to Happiness Is Being with the Spinners. One member, Wynne, left in 1977, and the Spinners enjoyed hits for several years after that. Henry Fambrough, an original member, has continued to lead the active performing group into the 2020s.
